Editorial & sourcing policy

1. Editorial ownership

Content is published and maintained under the FitsOnBoard name. We do not currently publish individual author profiles. When no individual byline appears, FitsOnBoard is the named publisher and editorial owner of the page. Questions and corrections are handled through hello@fitsonboard.com.

2. Source priority

For airline rules, we prefer sources in this order:

1. the airline’s current baggage-policy, fare or help page;
2. the airline’s current conditions of carriage or another official document;
3. an official customer-service or newsroom statement when the main policy is unclear.

Third-party travel blogs, search snippets and retailer pages are not treated as the authority for an airline limit. They can identify an issue to investigate, but the published record should point to the strongest available first-party source.

Bag dimensions should come from a manufacturer or an authorised retailer carrying a clear specification. We record external dimensions where available because wheels, handles and pockets matter at a baggage sizer.

3. What “Verified” means

A verified airline record has been checked against the cited source on the date shown on its profile. We capture the rule our data model can represent, along with relevant fare, route, aircraft or combined-weight qualifications. Verification is a dated review, not a promise that the airline has not changed the rule since then.

If a policy is ambiguous, varies in a way the checker cannot model or lacks a reliable current source, we should explain the limitation, use a conservative value or withhold the verified label rather than present certainty we do not have.

4. Calculations and generated pages

Fit verdicts, margins, comparisons and lists are produced automatically from the maintained airline and bag datasets. Automation applies the same rules consistently; it does not independently verify an airline policy or turn an uncertain source into a fact.

Our methodology documents orientation handling, unit conversion, the safety margin and known limits of the model. Pages should expose enough source and date information for a reader to check the underlying record.

5. Reviews and updates

Airline records carry a last-checked date and are scheduled for re-checking. High-change rules and reported discrepancies should be reviewed sooner. An update date on an editorial page means the page itself was materially reviewed; it is not a claim that every linked airline policy changed on that date.

6. Corrections

We welcome evidence-based corrections. Send the page URL, disputed value and preferably an official source to hello@fitsonboard.com. We review the source, update the structured record or explanatory copy when needed, and update the relevant checked date only after a new review.

7. Commercial independence

Advertising, affiliate relationships and commission rates are not inputs to the fit engine. They do not change recorded limits or turn a non-fitting bag into a fitting one. 8. Independence from airlines

FitsOnBoard is not affiliated with any airline. Airline names and any permitted marks are used for identification. Inclusion does not imply approval, sponsorship or a partnership, and an airline does not review our fit verdicts.
