JetSMART cabin baggage explained

JetSMART’s basic SMART fare includes an under-seat bag, not the larger overhead carry-on. The free box is 45 × 35 × 25 cm and up to 10 kg; the 55 × 35 × 25 cm overhead piece is a paid option unless your booking explicitly includes it. These are separate entitlements, even though both have a 10 kg maximum.

What your fare changes

The free small backpack or personal item comes with the SMART fare. A larger cabin bag can be added during booking or later, subject to availability; JetSMART says the price depends on the route, travel date and point of purchase. Check the baggage line in your reservation before treating an overhead bag as included.

What to check before you fly

JetSMART counts wheels, handles and pockets in both published size boxes. Its current FAQ also says that, since January 2026, multiple small articles may be assessed by their combined volume rather than by count alone. A laptop case is not permission to exceed the personal-item gauge; use the packed outside dimensions.

Worked bag-size example

Take a packed under-seat backpack measuring 44 × 34 × 24 cm and weighing 9 kg. Compare it with the personal-item limit of 45 × 35 × 25 cm and 10 kg.

Side-by-side calculation
45 − 44 = 1 cm · 35 − 34 = 1 cm · 25 − 24 = 1 cm

The smallest dimensional margin is 1 cm, so the bag is within the size limit. Its weight margin is 1 kg.

We compare the three outside edges after orientation, including protruding parts. A result with less than 0.5 cm of clearance is marked tight because measuring and packing can change the real size.

JetSMART baggage FAQ

What size cabin bag can I take on JetSMART?+

JetSMART's free under-seat bag limit is 45 × 35 × 25 cm (17.7 × 13.8 × 9.8 in), up to 10 kg. Measure your bag including wheels and handles.

Does JetSMART include a free personal item?+

Yes — JetSMART lets you bring a personal item up to 45 × 35 × 25 cm that must fit under the seat in front of you at no extra cost.

How do I check if my bag fits JetSMART?+

Measure height, width and depth in cm or inches and enter them into the checker — you'll see instantly whether your bag fits JetSMART for free, is tight, or is over the limit, with the exact margin.

Is a 55 × 35 × 25 cm carry-on free on JetSMART?+

No. JetSMART lists this as an overhead cabin-bag option that must be paid for or included in a purchased package. The included SMART-fare item is the smaller 45 × 35 × 25 cm bag.

Do JetSMART’s measurements include wheels and pockets?+

Yes. The airline explicitly includes wheels, handles and pockets in its size limits. Measure the bag after packing it, not just the manufacturer’s empty-shell specification.

Can I take more than one small item?+

JetSMART’s current FAQ describes a combined-volume check for small articles from January 2026. Keep the combined items within the personal-item gauge and check the exact exception and market rules in your reservation.
