Spirit Airlines cabin bag size
Everything you can bring on board Spirit Airlines — sizes, weight and cost.
Spirit Airlines cabin baggage explained
Spirit includes one personal item with every travel option. A full-size carry-on is included with some higher travel options or can be purchased separately; the lowest option does not include it.
What your fare changes
The free personal-item maximum is 18 × 14 × 8 in (45 × 35 × 20 cm). The carry-on maximum is 22 × 18 × 10 in (56 × 46 × 25 cm). Check whether the selected Spirit travel option or add-on includes that second piece.
What to check before you fly
Handles and wheels are part of both measurements. The generous 46 cm carry-on width does not help a personal item: the free bag still has to pass the smaller 45 × 35 × 20 cm sizer and go below the seat.
Full baggage allowance
| Allowance | Max size | Weight | Fare | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Personal item / under-seat ≈ 18 × 14 × 8 in. One personal item is included with every travel option. | 45 × 35 × 20 cm 17.7 × 13.8 × 7.9 in | — | All fares | Free |
Cabin bag / carry-on ≈ 22 × 18 × 10 in. Included with selected travel options or sold separately. | 56 × 46 × 25 cm 22 × 18.1 × 9.8 in | — | Value: paid add-on / included with higher travel options | Paid / add-on |
Worked bag-size example
Take a free personal-item backpack measuring 44 × 34 × 19 cm. Compare it with the personal-item limit of 45 × 35 × 20 cm.
The smallest dimensional margin is 1 cm, so the bag is within the size limit.
We compare the three outside edges after orientation, including protruding parts. A result with less than 0.5 cm of clearance is marked tight because measuring and packing can change the real size.
