TAP Air Portugal cabin bag size
Everything you can bring on board TAP Air Portugal — sizes, weight and cost.
TAP Air Portugal cabin baggage explained
TAP Air Portugal gives every passenger a small personal item, but the 10 kg cabin bag is tied to the fare: Economy Discount, the cheapest branded fare, does not include the overhead cabin bag.
What your fare changes
The 40 × 30 × 15 cm personal item is included on all fares. The 55 × 40 × 25 cm cabin bag up to 10 kg comes with Economy fares above Discount; Discount customers add it as a paid option. Business and higher cabins carry more.
What to check before you fly
The trap is the Discount fare, which looks like normal Economy but only includes the small item. The cabin box is a generous 25 cm deep. On partner-operated segments the operating carrier’s rules apply, so check every leg of the itinerary.
Full baggage allowance
| Allowance | Max size | Weight | Fare | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Personal item / under-seat | 40 × 30 × 15 cm 15.7 × 11.8 × 5.9 in | — | All fares | Free |
Cabin bag / carry-on | 55 × 40 × 25 cm 21.7 × 15.7 × 9.8 in | 10 kg | Economy (not Discount) | Free |
Worked bag-size example
Take an Economy cabin bag measuring 54 × 39 × 24 cm and weighing 9.5 kg. Compare it with the cabin-bag limit of 55 × 40 × 25 cm and 10 kg.
The smallest dimensional margin is 1 cm, so the bag is within the size limit. Its weight margin is 0.5 kg.
We compare the three outside edges after orientation, including protruding parts. A result with less than 0.5 cm of clearance is marked tight because measuring and packing can change the real size.
